Why the #7?

The #7 sits in the sweet spot of the Boost Beach series — more powerful than the #6 for moderate wind and larger sea trout, yet lighter and more refined than the #8 for all-day fishing and finesse presentations. The 18g/265gr head weight delivers excellent distance with a delicate touch, making it the most versatile choice for sea trout fishing across the full range of Baltic and Scandinavian coastal conditions. If you fish one rod on the beach, the #7 is the most logical choice.

Perfect For

  • Sea trout fishing along Baltic and Scandinavian coastlines in varied conditions
  • School bass on Atlantic beaches with finesse presentations
  • Estuary fishing for sea trout and bass in mixed conditions
  • Anglers new to two-handed beach fishing who want one versatile rod
  • Experienced coastal fly fishers who want the most versatile rod in the series

Line Recommendations

An 18g/265gr Scandi or Skagit shooting head suits this rod perfectly. A floating head suits surface presentations; an intermediate is the most popular choice for subsurface sea trout fishing; a fast-sinking head covers deeper channels and autumn conditions. Pair with a low-memory mono running line for maximum distance and minimal tangles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Echo Boost Beach 12'1" #7?

The Echo Boost Beach 12'1" (369cm) #7 is the versatile all-rounder in the Echo Boost Beach two-handed beach series. It is a fast action rod weighing approximately 215g with a recommended head weight of 18g/265gr, designed for sea trout fishing across the full range of Baltic and Scandinavian coastal conditions.

How does the #7 compare to the #6, #8, and #9 in the series?

The #6 is the most delicate rod, suited to calm conditions and the most selective sea trout in clear, shallow water. The #7 is the versatile all-rounder covering the widest range of sea trout fishing situations. The #8 adds power for sea trout in wind and pike fishing. The #9 is the most powerful, suited to large pike flies and the most demanding coastal conditions. The #7 is the best single choice for most European coastal fly fishers.

Is the #7 suitable for school bass fishing?

Yes — the #7 is an excellent choice for school bass fishing on Atlantic beaches. The 18g/265gr head weight delivers the distance needed to reach feeding fish beyond single-hand casting range, and the fast action handles streamers and surface patterns effectively in moderate coastal wind.

Why choose a two-handed rod for sea trout beach fishing?

A two-handed beach rod provides superior reach, mending ability, and line control compared to a single-handed rod, whilst reducing fatigue during all-day fishing. The 12'1" length covers more water from the shore, manages line in wind and current more effectively, and delivers presentations at distances that a single-handed rod cannot reach without compromising delicacy.

Is the Echo Boost Beach 12'1" #7 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the Echo Boost Beach 12'1" #7 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Echo rods are designed by Tim Rajeff, a world champion fly caster, and are trusted by coastal fly anglers across Europe and beyond.

Further Details
A rod designed for overhead two-hand casting

The first of its kind:  A two-hand rod specifically built for overhead casting.  While most all two-hand rods are built with spey casting in mind, the Boost Beach’s unique design is made with beach casters in mind.

Throw tight loops with less effort

Spey rods are designed to load deep in to the blank to properly launch an anchored spey cast – the Boost Beast bucks this trend in favour of an action and power balance that allows for high line speed, tight loop casts using a lot less effort than a traditional two-hander.

Sea Trout and Pike beware!

Whether
stalking the salty pike off the coast of southern Sweden, sea trout in the Danish archipelago or sea Bass off the west coast of Ireland: there’s no beach fishery
this rod won’t shine.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
