The Echo Boost Beach 12'2" (372cm) #8 is the step up to authority in the Echo Boost Beach series — a fast action two-handed beach rod with the power to handle sea trout in wind, Baltic and Scandinavian pike in brackish water, and Atlantic bass on exposed coastlines. At approximately 215g and with a recommended head weight of 20g/300gr, it delivers the distance and backbone that demanding coastal conditions require, whilst remaining light enough for all-day fishing.

Why the #8?

The #8 is the choice when the #7 is not quite enough — for sea trout fishing in stronger wind, for Baltic and Scandinavian pike in brackish and coastal environments, and for Atlantic bass on exposed North Sea and Atlantic coastlines. The 20g/300gr head weight handles moderate pike flies and larger streamers with ease, and the additional power delivers the distance needed when conditions are demanding. It is the most versatile rod in the series for anglers who fish both sea trout and pike.

Perfect For

  • Sea trout fishing along Baltic and Scandinavian coastlines in moderate to strong wind
  • Baltic and Scandinavian pike fishing in brackish and coastal environments
  • Atlantic bass on exposed North Sea and Atlantic coastlines
  • Pollack from rocky shores with larger streamers
  • Anglers who fish both sea trout and pike and want one rod for both

Line Recommendations

A 20g/300gr Scandi or Skagit shooting head suits this rod perfectly. A floating head suits surface presentations and pike poppers; an intermediate is the most popular choice for subsurface sea trout and pike streamers; a fast-sinking head covers deeper channels and autumn conditions. Pair with a low-memory mono running line for maximum distance and minimal tangles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #8?

The Echo Boost Beach 12'2" (372cm) #8 is the powerful mid-range rod in the Echo Boost Beach two-handed beach series. It is a fast action rod weighing approximately 215g with a recommended head weight of 20g/300gr, designed for sea trout in demanding conditions, Baltic and Scandinavian pike in brackish water, and Atlantic bass on exposed European coastlines.

How does the #8 compare to the #7 and #9 in the series?

The #7 is the versatile all-rounder for most sea trout fishing situations. The #8 steps up with more power for sea trout in wind, pike fishing, and Atlantic bass on exposed coastlines — the choice when the #7 feels underpowered. The #9 adds further authority for the largest pike flies and most demanding coastal conditions. The #8 is the best choice for anglers who fish both sea trout and pike.

Is the #8 suitable for Baltic pike fishing?

Yes — the #8 is an excellent choice for Baltic and Scandinavian pike fishing in brackish and coastal environments. The 20g/300gr head weight handles moderate pike flies and poppers effectively, and the two-handed length provides the distance and line control needed when covering large coastal areas on foot or from a boat.

Is the #8 suitable for Atlantic bass fishing?

Yes — the #8 is well suited to Atlantic bass fishing on exposed North Sea and Atlantic coastlines. The additional power compared to the #7 delivers the distance needed to reach feeding fish in strong coastal wind, and the fast action handles larger streamers and surface patterns effectively.

Is the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #8 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #8 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Echo rods are designed by Tim Rajeff, a world champion fly caster, and are trusted by coastal fly anglers across Europe and beyond.

Further Details
A rod designed for overhead two-hand casting

The first of its kind:  A two-hand rod specifically built for overhead casting.  While most all two-hand rods are built with spey casting in mind, the Boost Beach’s unique design is made with beach casters in mind.

Throw tight loops with less effort

Spey rods are designed to load deep in to the blank to properly launch an anchored spey cast – the Boost Beast bucks this trend in favour of an action and power balance that allows for high line speed, tight loop casts using a lot less effort than a traditional two-hander.

Sea Trout and Pike beware!

Whether
stalking the salty pike off the coast of southern Sweden, sea trout in the Danish archipelago or sea Bass off the west coast of Ireland: there’s no beach fishery
this rod won’t shine.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
