Full-Size Tarpon. Serious GT. The EPR at Maximum Saltwater Authority.

The ECHO EPR 9'0" #11 Fly Rod is the penultimate rod in the ECHO EPR range — and the rod for the saltwater fly fisher who is targeting the most powerful and demanding species that big game fly fishing can offer. The #11 line weight combined with the EPR's extremely fast action creates a rod of exceptional authority: the power to deliver the largest saltwater flies with explosive speed, the hook-setting force to drive home through the hardest mouths in saltwater fly fishing, and the backbone to fight the most powerful fish without ever feeling outgunned. At €699, it is the premium fast action big game rod for the angler who demands the best when the fish are at their largest and most powerful.

Rod Specifications

  • Length: 9'0" / 274cm
  • Line Weight: #11
  • Action: Extremely fast
  • Use: Full-size tarpon, GT, large permit, serious offshore species, and the most demanding big game saltwater fly fishing

Full-Size Tarpon — Where the Fast Action Is Non-Negotiable

For full-size tarpon — fish in the 40kg and above range, where the fight is measured in jumps and long, powerful runs and the hook-set must be instantaneous and absolute — the EPR #11 is the rod that gives you every possible advantage. The extremely fast action drives the hook home through a tarpon's bony jaw with a speed and force that slower action rods cannot replicate. The #11 line weight delivers the largest tarpon flies with the authority that big fish demand. And the premium EPR action has the backbone to fight a large, acrobatic tarpon through multiple jumps and runs without losing control. On the tarpon grounds of the Florida Keys, the Caribbean, Belize, and the West African coast, the EPR #11 is the fast action tarpon rod of choice for serious anglers targeting large fish.

Giant Trevally — Fast Action Stops Them

For GT on the coral atolls and reef flats of the Indian Ocean and Pacific — the Seychelles, the Maldives, Christmas Island, and the remote atolls of Micronesia — the EPR #11 is the fast action rod that gives you the authority to stop the most powerful fish in saltwater fly fishing before it reaches the coral. The extremely fast action delivers large GT flies with explosive speed to sighted fish, and the #11 power class has the raw backbone to turn a large GT in the critical first seconds of the fight — when the fish is at full speed and heading for the reef.

Large Permit & Serious Offshore

For the largest permit on the flats and the full range of serious offshore species — large yellowfin tuna, dorado, wahoo, sailfish, and the bigger pelagic species of the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific — the EPR #11 delivers the fast action performance and #11 authority that these demanding situations require. The tight loop and high line speed of the EPR cut through offshore winds with authority, delivering large offshore flies with the precision and power that serious offshore fly fishing demands.

The ECHO EPR Range

The EPR is ECHO's premium extremely fast action rod range, available from #6 through to #12. The #11 is the penultimate rod in the range — the choice for the serious big game fly fisher who needs maximum fast action authority for full-size tarpon, GT, and demanding offshore species, with the #12 above it as the most powerful rod in the range.

If you've been asking "what's the best extremely fast action #11 fly rod for full-size tarpon and GT?" or "which premium fast action big game rod is best for serious offshore saltwater fly fishing?" — the ECHO EPR 9'0" #11 is the answer.

Further Product Details
A rod for big flies, big fish and big winds

Big game fisheries require a rod that can handle the big stuff.  Whether it’s casting chicken-sized pike or muskie flies, fighting heavy winds, or dealing with the fury of a GT, the EPR has delivered.

Extra-fast action and massive power

With its super-fast tip, it will load for short distance shots.  When it’s distance or heavy lifting you need to do, its powerful bottom section will more than deliver the goods.

ECHO's fastest, most powerful rod they have ever produced

Working with bass and muskie USA guru Pat Ehlers, ECHO produced their fastest, most powerful rod we have ever produced.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Action/Power Explained

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
