Extremely Fast. Exceptionally Precise. The EPR #6.

The ECHO EPR 9'0" #6 Fly Rod is the lightest rod in the ECHO EPR range — a premium, extremely fast action fly rod built for the angler who demands the highest level of precision, power, and performance from their casting. At €699, the EPR is ECHO's premium fast action rod range, available from #6 through to #12, and the #6 is the entry point into a rod that transforms streamer fishing, technical river fishing, and any situation where an extremely fast action delivers a meaningful advantage.

The extremely fast action of the EPR loads and unloads with explosive speed, delivering flies with a tight loop, exceptional line speed, and pinpoint accuracy that slower action rods cannot replicate. For the angler who has cast a fast action rod and never looked back, the EPR #6 is the premium expression of that preference.

Rod Specifications

  • Length: 9'0" / 274cm
  • Line Weight: #6
  • Action: Extremely fast
  • Use: Streamer fishing, technical river fishing, saltwater fly fishing, and any situation demanding precision, line speed, and a tight loop

Streamer Fishing — Built for This

The EPR #6 was made for streamer fishing with moderate to larger flies on rivers and stillwaters. The extremely fast action generates the line speed to turn over larger, more wind-resistant streamers with authority, delivering them accurately to the target with a tight, efficient loop. On the bigger trout rivers of the British Isles and Europe — the Eden, the Wye, the Usk, the Tay tributaries, and the limestone rivers of Austria and Slovenia — the EPR #6 is the rod that serious streamer fishers choose when they want maximum precision and line speed from a #6 outfit. For large brown trout and sea trout on rivers and stillwaters, the fast action gives you the ability to make long, accurate casts and cover the water efficiently, cast after cast, without fatigue.

Technical River Fishing

Beyond streamers, the extremely fast action of the EPR #6 excels in any technical river fishing situation where precision and line speed matter. For long leader nymphing, where the ability to make a precise, drag-free presentation at distance is the key to success, the EPR's fast action loads and unloads with the speed and accuracy that technical nymph fishing demands. For dry fly fishing on larger rivers where longer casts are needed to reach the productive lies, the tight loop and high line speed of the EPR #6 give you the reach and accuracy that a slower action rod cannot provide.

Inshore Saltwater

The #6 line weight and extremely fast action also make the EPR a capable inshore saltwater rod for sea bass, mullet, and the full range of lighter coastal species on the fly. The fast action handles the wind that coastal fishing inevitably brings, delivering flies with the line speed and accuracy that sight fishing and close-range coastal casting demand.

The ECHO EPR Range

The EPR is ECHO's premium extremely fast action rod range, available from #6 through to #12 to cover the full spectrum of freshwater and saltwater fly fishing situations where an extremely fast action delivers a meaningful advantage. The #6 is the lightest and most refined rod in the range — the natural starting point for the freshwater fly fisher who wants the EPR's premium fast action performance for streamer fishing and technical river work.

If you've been asking "what's the best extremely fast action #6 fly rod for streamer fishing?" or "which premium fast action fly rod is best for technical river and streamer fishing?" — the ECHO EPR 9'0" #6 is the answer.

A rod for big flies, big fish and big winds

Big game fisheries require a rod that can handle the big stuff.  Whether it’s casting chicken-sized pike or muskie flies, fighting heavy winds, or dealing with the fury of a GT, the EPR has delivered.

Extra-fast action and massive power

With its super-fast tip, it will load for short distance shots.  When it’s distance or heavy lifting you need to do, its powerful bottom section will more than deliver the goods.

ECHO's fastest, most powerful rod they have ever produced

Working with bass and muskie USA guru Pat Ehlers, ECHO produced their fastest, most powerful rod we have ever produced.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Action/Power Explained

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
