Fast Action. Featherlight Feel. Endless Versatility.

The ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #7 Fly Rod is the most versatile rod in the SR Switch range — a fast action, performance-built switch rod that covers the full breadth of European and UK river fishing with equal confidence. At just 198g, it is one of the lightest 10'10" switch rods available at any price point, yet the fast action blank delivers the precision, loop control, and distance that experienced Spey casters demand.

Where the #8 SR Switch is built for heavy flies, powerful fish, and demanding conditions, the #7 is the rod you reach for when presentation matters as much as power — on sea trout rivers at night, on trout Spey beats in summer, and on the kind of mixed fishing that defines a full season on UK and European rivers. At €529, it is a serious performance rod at a price that makes it genuinely accessible.

UK Rivers — Sea Trout, Salmon & Trout Spey

On the classic sea trout rivers of Wales — the Towy, the Teifi, the Dyfi — the SR Switch #7 is in its element. The fast action delivers tight, accurate loops in the dark, covering the productive lies efficiently without disturbing the pool. On the spate rivers of Scotland and the north of England, the 10'10" length gives you the reach to mend line across broken currents and swing flies through the holding water, while the #7 line weight keeps the presentation refined enough for educated fish on clear, low water.

On the larger trout and grayling rivers of northern England — the Eden, the Wye, the Usk — the SR Switch opens up Spey casting techniques that transform how you fish these rivers, covering water that a single-handed rod simply cannot reach.

European Rivers — Scandinavia, Baltic & Central Europe

Across the North Sea, the SR Switch #7 is equally at home on the sea trout rivers of Denmark and Sweden, the Baltic tributaries of northern Germany and Poland, and the limestone rivers of Central Europe where a long, accurate cast and a delicate presentation are the keys to consistent success. On the classic Scandinavian rivers where the Scandi style was born, the fast action loads shooting heads with a crispness and efficiency that medium fast rods cannot match.

The Fast Action Advantage

The SR rewards anglers who have put in the time on their Spey casting. It loads quickly, unloads with authority, and delivers flies on a tight loop that cuts through wind and covers distance with minimal effort. For anglers who have been fishing a medium fast switch rod and want to experience what a step up in performance feels like — the SR Switch #7 is the rod that will change how you think about switch fishing.

Pair it with a Scandi shooting head in the 300–360gr range or a compact Skagit head for heavier flies and sink tips in autumn and winter conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #7?

The ECHO SR Switch 10'10" (308cm) #7 is the most versatile rod in the ECHO SR Switch range. It is a fast action two-handed switch rod weighing approximately 198g, designed for sea trout and trout Spey fishing across the full range of UK and European rivers. It is the most popular choice in the series for experienced switch rod anglers.

How does the #7 compare to the #6 and #8 in the SR Switch series?

The #6 is the lighter, more refined rod for brown trout and light sea trout on smaller rivers. The #7 is the versatile all-rounder — the choice for sea trout at night, trout Spey in summer, and the full range of UK and European river fishing. The #8 is the most powerful, suited to sea trout and salmon on larger rivers with heavier flies and sink tips. The #7 covers the widest range of situations.

What rivers is the ECHO SR Switch #7 suited to?

The #7 SR Switch is ideally suited to the sea trout rivers of Wales (Towy, Teifi, Dyfi), the spate rivers of Scotland and northern England, the larger trout and grayling rivers of northern England (Eden, Wye, Usk), the sea trout rivers of Denmark and Sweden, the Baltic tributaries of northern Germany and Poland, and the limestone rivers of Central Europe.

What is the difference between the SR Switch #7 and the Swing Switch #7?

The Swing Switch #7 (11'7") is a medium fast action rod — longer, smoother, and more forgiving, suited to a wider range of anglers including those new to two-handed casting. The SR Switch #7 (10'10") is a fast action performance rod — shorter, crisper, and more demanding, designed for experienced casters who want precision, loop control, and distance. Choose the Swing Switch for accessibility; choose the SR Switch for fast action performance.

Is the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #7 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #7 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Balticflyfisher is your specialist source for UK and European sea trout and salmon fly fishing tackle.

Further Details

Fast actions and versatile sizes make the SR series the best rod for two-handed fly casters that prefer a shorter rod. The #3-5 models are ideal for trout and sseatrout everywhere, while the #6-8 handle larger anadromous fish with authority. Slick cosmetics and bombproof componentry help solidify the SR as the fishiest switch rod on the water.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
