Performance Switch. No Compromises.

The ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #8 Fly Rod is a step up in performance from the Swing Switch range — a fast action, precision-built switch rod designed for anglers who demand more from their casting. At 10'10" and just 200g, it is remarkably light for a rod of this power and speed, with a fast action blank that loads crisply, delivers tight loops, and punches flies into a headwind with authority.

The dark slate gloss blank, single-foot hard chrome guides, and composite grip inserts mark it out as a rod built with performance and aesthetics in equal measure. At €529, it sits above the Swing range and delivers a noticeably more refined casting experience.

Built for UK, European & Baltic Sea Trout and Salmon Rivers

The SR Switch #8 is the rod for anglers who fish hard and expect their tackle to keep up. On the classic sea trout rivers of Wales and Scotland — the Towy, the Teifi, the Dee, and the spate rivers of the west Highlands — the fast action delivers tight, accurate loops with the efficiency that long summer nights and unpredictable conditions demand. On the chalk-fed salmon rivers of southern England and the productive beats of the Tweed and Spey, the #8 power class handles heavy sink tips and large tube flies with authority, turning powerful fish away from snags and structure.

Across the North Sea, the SR Switch is equally at home on the sea trout rivers of Denmark and Sweden, the Baltic salmon rivers of northern Germany and Poland, and the spate rivers of Norway where fast, efficient casting is the difference between covering the water and watching it go unfished.

The 10'10" length gives you the reach to mend line across complex currents and execute single Spey, snake roll, and snap-T casts in confined spaces — a genuine advantage on tree-lined beats and tight river bends where a longer rod becomes a liability.

The Fast Action Advantage

A fast action switch rod rewards anglers who have developed their Spey casting timing. The SR loads quickly, unloads crisply, and delivers flies with a precision and distance that a medium fast rod cannot match in the hands of an experienced caster. For anglers who have been fishing the Swing Switch and want to feel the difference a step up in performance makes — the SR is the answer.

Pair it with a Scandi shooting head in the 330–390gr range or a compact Skagit head for heavier flies and fast-sinking tips in autumn conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #8?

The ECHO SR Switch 10'10" (308cm) #8 is the most powerful rod in the ECHO SR Switch range. It is a fast action two-handed switch rod weighing approximately 200g, designed for sea trout and Atlantic salmon fishing on UK, European, and Baltic rivers. It is the performance step up from the Swing Switch range.

How does the #8 compare to the #7 in the SR Switch series?

The #7 is the versatile all-rounder for sea trout and trout Spey across the full range of UK and European rivers. The #8 is the most powerful rod in the series — the choice for sea trout and salmon on larger rivers, for heavier flies and sink tips, and for the most demanding conditions. Choose the #8 when power and authority are the priority over finesse.

What rivers is the ECHO SR Switch #8 suited to?

The #8 SR Switch is ideally suited to the sea trout rivers of Wales and Scotland (Towy, Teifi, Dee, west Highland spate rivers), the salmon rivers of southern England (Tweed, Spey), the sea trout rivers of Denmark and Sweden, the Baltic salmon rivers of northern Germany and Poland, and the spate rivers of Norway. It excels wherever heavy flies, sink tips, and powerful fish demand maximum authority from a switch rod.

What is the difference between the SR Switch #8 and the Swing Switch #8?

The Swing Switch #8 (11'8") is a medium fast action rod — longer, smoother, and more forgiving, suited to a wider range of anglers. The SR Switch #8 (10'10") is a fast action performance rod — shorter, crisper, and more demanding, designed for experienced casters who want precision, loop control, and the ability to punch flies into headwinds. Choose the Swing Switch for accessibility and length; choose the SR Switch for fast action performance.

Is the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #8 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the ECHO SR Switch 10'10" #8 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Balticflyfisher is your specialist source for UK and European sea trout and salmon fly fishing tackle.

Further Details

Fast actions and versatile sizes make the SR series the best rod for two-handed fly casters that prefer a shorter rod. The #3-5 models are ideal for trout and sseatrout everywhere, while the #6-8 handle larger anadromous fish with authority. Slick cosmetics and bombproof componentry help solidify the SR as the fishiest switch rod on the water.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
