The Echo Boost Beach 12'2" (372cm) #9 is the most powerful rod in the Echo Boost Beach series — a fast action two-handed beach rod built for large pike flies, Atlantic bass in the most demanding conditions, and any coastal situation where maximum power and distance are the priority. At approximately 215g and with a recommended head weight of 22g/330gr, it handles the largest coastal flies and poppers with authority, and delivers the distance needed on the most exposed European coastlines.

Why the #9?

The #9 is the choice when maximum power is the priority — for the largest Baltic and Scandinavian pike in brackish and coastal environments, for Atlantic bass on the most exposed North Sea and Atlantic coastlines, and for distance casting with the heaviest shooting head systems in strong coastal wind. The 22g/330gr head weight handles large deer hair pike flies, heavy articulated streamers, and large surface poppers with ease. It is the top of the Boost Beach range and the definitive choice for serious European pike and bass anglers who fish from the shore.

Perfect For

  • Large pike fishing in Baltic and Scandinavian brackish and coastal environments
  • Atlantic bass on the most exposed North Sea and Atlantic coastlines
  • Distance casting with heavy shooting head systems in strong coastal wind
  • Cod and pollack from rocky shores with large streamers and heavy rigs
  • Anglers who need maximum power and distance from a two-handed beach rod

Line Recommendations

A 22g/330gr Scandi or Skagit shooting head suits this rod perfectly. A floating head suits large surface poppers and pike flies; an intermediate handles large streamers at depth; a fast-sinking head covers deeper channels and offshore marks. Pair with a low-memory mono running line for maximum distance and minimal tangles in strong coastal wind.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #9?

The Echo Boost Beach 12'2" (372cm) #9 is the most powerful rod in the Echo Boost Beach two-handed beach series. It is a fast action rod weighing approximately 215g with a recommended head weight of 22g/330gr, designed for large pike in Baltic and Scandinavian coastal environments, Atlantic bass in demanding conditions, and distance casting with heavy shooting head systems.

How does the #9 compare to the #8 in the series?

The #8 is the versatile mid-range rod for sea trout in wind, Baltic pike, and Atlantic bass. The #9 is the maximum power option — the choice for the largest pike flies, the most demanding coastal conditions, and situations where the #8 feels underpowered. The #9 is the top of the Boost Beach range and is suited to anglers who regularly fish the heaviest coastal situations.

Is the #9 suitable for large Baltic pike fishing?

Yes — the #9 is the definitive choice for large pike fishing in Baltic and Scandinavian brackish and coastal environments. The 22g/330gr head weight handles the largest deer hair pike flies and heavy articulated streamers with ease, and the two-handed length provides the distance and line control needed when covering large coastal areas on foot or from a boat.

Why choose a two-handed rod for pike beach fishing?

A two-handed beach rod provides significant advantages for pike fishing from the shore — greater casting distance with large pike flies and poppers, better line control in wind, less fatigue when casting heavy flies all day, and superior fish-fighting leverage for large pike. The 12'2" length is particularly effective for covering large areas of Baltic coastal water on foot.

Is the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #9 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the Echo Boost Beach 12'2" #9 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Echo rods are designed by Tim Rajeff, a world champion fly caster, and are trusted by coastal fly anglers across Europe and beyond.

Further Details
A rod designed for overhead two-hand casting

The first of its kind:  A two-hand rod specifically built for overhead casting.  While most all two-hand rods are built with spey casting in mind, the Boost Beach’s unique design is made with beach casters in mind.

Throw tight loops with less effort

Spey rods are designed to load deep in to the blank to properly launch an anchored spey cast – the Boost Beast bucks this trend in favour of an action and power balance that allows for high line speed, tight loop casts using a lot less effort than a traditional two-hander.

Sea Trout and Pike beware!

Whether
stalking the salty pike off the coast of southern Sweden, sea trout in the Danish archipelago or sea Bass off the west coast of Ireland: there’s no beach fishery
this rod won’t shine.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
