The Echo Boost Blue 9'0" (274cm) #10 moves into heavy saltwater territory — a fast action rod with the power to handle large Atlantic salmon on single-handed setups, offshore species along European coastlines, and the most demanding coastal conditions where lighter rods cannot deliver. At approximately 150g, it is also the entry point into tropical saltwater fishing, covering medium tarpon, large GT, and permit for travelling anglers who want one rod for European and worldwide saltwater. Premium power at a sensible price.

Why the #10?

The #10 is the classic saltwater all-rounder — powerful enough for GTs, tarpon, and permit on tropical flats, yet manageable enough for all-day fishing on European coastlines. It handles large Atlantic salmon with single-handed shooting head systems, large bass and pollack in the most demanding North Sea and Atlantic conditions, and provides the backbone for the heaviest coastal rigs and largest flies. For travelling anglers who fish European coasts in summer and tropical destinations in winter, the #10 is the most logical single rod.

Line Recommendations

For Atlantic salmon, a Skagit head with heavy sink tips maximises depth and fly control. For large bass and pollack, a saltwater-specific shooting head delivers the distance needed on exposed coastlines. For tropical flats species, a tropical-specific weight-forward floating line handles the heat and delivers accurate presentations. The powerful fast action handles all these line systems with authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Echo Boost Blue 9'0" #10?

The Echo Boost Blue 9'0" (274cm) #10 is a heavy saltwater fast action fly rod weighing approximately 150g. It is designed for Atlantic salmon, large Atlantic bass and pollack on European coastlines, and tropical saltwater species including GT, tarpon, and permit for travelling anglers. It is the classic saltwater all-rounder in the Echo Boost Blue series.

How does the #10 compare to the #9 and #11 in the series?

The #9 is the top of the European coastal range, suited to large pike and Atlantic bass in demanding conditions. The #10 bridges European coastal and tropical saltwater fishing — covering Atlantic salmon, offshore species, and tropical flats. The #11 and #12 are dedicated heavy saltwater rods for the largest offshore and tropical species. The #10 is the most versatile choice for travelling anglers.

Is the #10 suitable for GT and tarpon fishing?

Yes — the #10 is well suited to medium GT and tarpon fishing on tropical flats and reefs. It provides the backbone to turn over large flies and fight powerful fish, and paired with a tropical-specific line it performs effectively in warm-water conditions. For the very largest GT and tarpon, the #11 or #12 may be preferred.

Is the #10 suitable for Atlantic salmon fishing?

Yes — the #10 is well suited to Atlantic salmon fishing with single-handed shooting head systems, particularly on larger rivers where a powerful single-handed rod is preferred. Paired with a Skagit head and heavy sink tips, it delivers the depth control and fly presentation needed for autumn salmon fishing.

Is the Echo Boost Blue 9'0" #10 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the Echo Boost Blue 9'0" #10 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Echo rods are designed by Tim Rajeff, a world champion fly caster, and are trusted by saltwater fly anglers across Europe and beyond.

Maximum Line Speed

Born from ECHO's popular Boost Salt Series, the Boost Blue is built for anglers with an aggressive casting stroke to achieve maximum line speed.

Crisp, fast action

The all-new actions are a result of Tim’s Rajeffs relentless tweaking to the Boost Salt Series.  With its light tip section mated to a powerful bottom section, these rods pack the punch needed to fight the wind and other challenging conditions.

Ultimate balance of power & precision

The Boost Blue features upgraded titanium stripping guies and is the perfect rod for aggressive casters who can’t live without that modern, fast-action rod feel.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Action/Power Explained

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
