The Most Refined Rod in the TR2 Salmon Range.

The ECHO TR2 12'6" #6 Spey Fly Rod is the lightest and most elegant rod in the TR2 salmon range — and for sea trout anglers and salmon fishers who value presentation as much as power, it may be the most rewarding. At 12'6" and just 230g, it carries the medium fast+ action and three grip system of its larger siblings in a rod that feels alive in the hand, loads beautifully with light Scandi heads, and delivers flies with a delicacy that a heavier outfit simply cannot match.

This is the rod for the angler who fishes the classic Scandi style on the sea trout rivers of Scandinavia, the salmon rivers of Ireland and Scotland on low, clear summer water, and the intimate spate rivers of Wales and northern England where a lighter touch and a longer rod open up water that others walk past. At €529, it is exceptional value for a rod of this quality and refinement.

UK Rivers — Sea Trout & Light Salmon

On the sea trout rivers of Wales and Scotland — the Towy, the Teifi, the Dyfi, the Conwy, the Lune, and the west Highland spate rivers — the TR2 #6 is the rod for the most demanding and rewarding fishing. The 12'6" length gives you the reach to cover the productive lies without wading and disturbing the pool, while the #6 line weight keeps the presentation refined enough for the most educated sea trout on low, clear summer water. When the river rises after rain and the fish are running, the medium fast+ action has the backbone to handle them.

On the smaller salmon rivers of Scotland and northern England — the Highland spate rivers, the Eden, the upper Wye — the TR2 #6 is the rod for summer and early autumn fishing, when lighter lines and a more delicate presentation are the keys to consistent success.

Irish Rivers — Sea Trout & Salmon

On the sea trout and salmon rivers of Ireland's west coast — the Erriff, the Delphi, the Bundorragha, the Ballynahinch, and the spate rivers of Cork and Kerry — the TR2 #6 is perfectly matched to the intimate pools and demanding fish that define Irish river fishing at its finest. The #6 line weight handles the fine tippets and smaller flies that clear Irish water demands, while the 12'6" length gives you the reach to cover the water without disturbing it.

On the Moy and the Corrib, where salmon fishing can be both technical and physical, the medium fast+ action gives you the authority to present flies accurately across wide pools and still turn a strong fish when it matters.

European Rivers — Scandi Style Sea Trout & Salmon

The TR2 #6 is the natural rod for the classic Scandinavian Scandi style — long, flowing casts with light shooting heads, fine tippets, and flies presented on a natural swing through the productive lies. On the sea trout rivers of Denmark and Sweden, the salmon rivers of southern Norway, and the Baltic tributaries of northern Germany and Poland, the 12'6" length and #6 line weight are perfectly matched to the conditions and the style of fishing that defines European river angling at its most elegant.

Three Grip Styles — All-Day Comfort

The TR2's three grip configuration — with composite inserts and pressure points — allows you to vary your hand position through a long day of casting, reducing fatigue and maintaining feel and control from the first cast to the last. On a full day's sea trout or salmon fishing, that is not a small thing.

Pair it with a Scandi shooting head in the 360–420gr range or a lighter Skagit head for heavier flies and sink tips in autumn conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ECHO TR2 12'6" #6?

The ECHO TR2 12'6" (384cm) #6 is the lightest rod in the TR2 salmon Spey range. It is a medium fast+ action full Spey rod weighing approximately 230g, designed for sea trout and light salmon fishing on UK, Irish, and European rivers. It is also an excellent sea trout rod in its own right, bridging the trout Spey and salmon ends of the TR2 range.

How does the #6 compare to the #7 and #8 in the TR2 salmon range?

The #6 is the lightest and most refined salmon rod in the TR2 range — the choice for sea trout, light salmon on smaller rivers, and Scandi style fishing where delicacy and presentation are the priority. The #7 is the versatile all-rounder for a full season on UK and European salmon rivers. The #8 is the most powerful, suited to the broadest beats and the most demanding high-water conditions. Choose the #6 for sea trout and light salmon; the #7 for versatility; the #8 for maximum power.

Is the TR2 #6 suitable as a sea trout rod?

Yes — the TR2 #6 is an excellent sea trout rod. The 12'6" length and #6 line weight are perfectly matched to sea trout fishing on the rivers of Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia, and the Baltic coast. The medium fast+ action delivers the delicate presentations that sea trout demand on low, clear summer water, and the backbone to handle powerful fish when the river is running.

What is the difference between the TR2 trout Spey rods (#3, #4) and the TR2 salmon rods (#6, #7, #8)?

The TR2 #3 and #4 are dedicated trout Spey rods — lighter, shorter, and designed for wild brown trout and sea trout on intimate rivers. The TR2 #6, #7, and #8 are full salmon Spey rods — longer, more powerful, and designed for sea trout and Atlantic salmon on larger rivers. The #6 bridges the two, doubling as an excellent sea trout rod. All five share the same glossy green blank, three grip system, and medium fast+ action.

Is the ECHO TR2 12'6" #6 available with worldwide shipping?

Yes — the ECHO TR2 12'6" #6 is available from Balticflyfisher with worldwide shipping. Balticflyfisher is your specialist source for UK, Irish, and European sea trout and salmon fly fishing tackle.

Tim’s fast action two hander.  Built with a beefy butt section for those abrupt, bottom-hand power applications.  Touch and go to Skagit casting, floating lines to big sink tips.  It’s dialed.

Care

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Ski wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules.

Action/Power Comparison Chart

Action vs Power Comparison

The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. The vertical axis indicates the rod’s power, while the horizontal axis indicates the rod’s action. In simple terms, single-hand rod action is derived from the top half of the rod, while power is derived from the bottom half.

Action:
Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke.

Power:
A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish.
